    Hi Malek,

I think the guaranteed offtake is the first key for pushing the market. Pricing of RNG equivalent or more compared to NG since this is green product should help a lot.

    Oh Yes, Natalia,

To lower project investment wrong technology is selected and reason to failure of project.

    Hi Lorenzo,

There are wide range of criteria starting from desired gas composition in outlet, methane loss, CAPEX, OPEX, plant availability, maintenance/replacement hours and cost.

I have prepared excel sheet to compare those,

    Hi Serge,

The efficiency mostly depends upon the technology and type of feedstock.

E.g. easy feedstock with less lignin and other impurities will give high efficiency. Let us not talk about efficiency but high VS destruction rate which is more technical and widely used to compare.

E.g. Technology/process like Plug Flow is much superior than traditional CSTR which gives at least 20% higher biogas yield compare to CSTR.

    Hi Jessica,

MSW is most challenging and yet most useful feedstock for digestion.

Since it is widely and round the year available. Most challenging part it to get segregated organics and it always comes with mixed.

Operation headache is the separation of inorganic and organic. Still, there are always impurities left after segregation. I believe to use Arciplug Dry Plug Flow reactor which can take up to 20% impurities without compromising biology of digester and no sedimentation.

    Hi Jose,

The CAPEX, OPEX, ROI and subsidy changes based on location and majorly availability and cost of feedstock.

Upon receiving above information, I will be happy to provide detailed elaboration.

    Hi Oscar,

I believe use of any green energy is worthwhile. If biogas was not generated from the feedstock, it could generate free methane to atmosphere which 28 times more harmful than CO2 for global warming.

We are replacing fossil fuel with green biogas, which make sense for energy security and reduce dependency.

    Hi Philip,

Advancing in biogas/RNG industry will required good established technology. We, Arciplug Oy, a Finnish company has patented Dry Plug Flow Reactors. We have difference working model to co-operate in different market. Happy to learn more from you on +91 8866797279.

    Hi Fatma,

Top 3 potential failures in RNG project in India are:

    1. Improper planned feedstock supply chain

    2. Selection of wrong technology

    3. Off-take of RNG

    Hi Natalia,

Biogas operation is always a challenge to one who don’t know critical parameters of operation. If we take very important parameters of operation, then it incorporates VFA, TA, TAN, VFA Profile, Biogas composition.

Out of above parameters, only biogas composition can be online monitored and others need to take samples and measure in lab.

Now, question comes where and when to take samples? So, it is good challenge and learning to monitor critical parameters and decide further operation philosophy.

Really interesting question, Zoe. Most viable pathway can be decided based on the cost of per unit of energy. Like in India, electricity is cheaper. Biogas to electricity is not viable here. In contrast, RNG pipeline network is good and well developing. So, I suggest that it depends on geographic locations.

Scaling up an anaerobic reactor always comes with challenges to biology if it is assumed that other mechanical system is designed for scaling up. Playing with living microbiology is state of art.
