Most viable pathway for biogas
Posted by Zoe on 2 March 2026 at 9:08 amWhat is the most viable pathway to effectively utilize the distributed biogas that is already produced? More distributed end-uses of biogas (power generation/microgrids) or a more robust network of RNG development with pipeline injection?

Hi, on my opinion, it’s better to use it to produce green energy, because right now it’s a great increase in this market.
Great input. Both pathways have merit, but the real question is which model remains economically resilient without credit structures. Distributed end use often delivers immediate operational savings and energy resilience, while RNG pipeline injection can unlock scale where policy frameworks are stable. From a process equipment perspective, the priority should be maximizing biogas capture efficiency and solids management first; monetization strategy comes second.
Laura, I agree that process optimization should come first and monetization comes after. This is logic. However, taking into account that monetization strategy is very important for no or no-go step of the project as it should be financially viable, I have a feeling in many cases, monetization comes first.
Incidentally, our company, WARMICO, is considering options for acquiring stakes in companies engaged in electricity generation from renewable energy sources, primarily related to biogas and RNG.
We are prepared to consider proposals from any operating enterprises interested in attracting investment following a valuation of the company according to strictly market terms.
We are open to discussing any proposals from any successful projects, preferably in Europe or Asia, but we are also willing to consider proposals from other regions.
Should you require further detailed information about our company, please refer to the WARMICO website: https://warmico.com/

Strategic infrastructure platform for the 5th Energy Era. Acquiring and transforming energy-intensive assets across Europe and Asia.
George, will projects in development or in construction in Canada be part of your interest?
Hello, sure, why not!
At the moment we are looking for all the opportunities, which will match our criteria? and later we will start to negotiate with the companies, which are more interesting for us.
The target production capacity is in the range of 50-100 MW, but we are open to discus the bigger or lower proposals.
Really interesting question, Zoe. Most viable pathway can be decided based on the cost of per unit of energy. Like in India, electricity is cheaper. Biogas to electricity is not viable here. In contrast, RNG pipeline network is good and well developing. So, I suggest that it depends on geographic locations.
