<p>The efficiency mostly depends upon the technology and type of feedstock. </p>
<p>E.g. easy feedstock with less lignin and other impurities will give high efficiency. Let us not talk about efficiency but high VS destruction rate which is more technical and widely used to compare. </p>

<p>MSW is most challenging and yet most useful feedstock for digestion. </p>
<p>Since it is widely and round the year available. Most challenging part it to get segregated organics and it always comes with mixed. </p>

<p>I believe use of any green energy is worthwhile. If biogas was not generated from the feedstock, it could generate free methane to atmosphere which 28 times more harmful than CO2 for global warming. </p>
<p><span>We are replacing fossil fuel with green biogas, which make sense for energy security and reduce dependency.  </span></p>

Most viable pathway can be decided based on the cost of per unit of energy. Like in India, electricity is cheaper. Biogas to electricity is not viable here. In contrast, RNG pipeline network is good and well developing. So, I suggest that it depends on geographic locations. </p>
