Really interesting question, Zoe. Most viable pathway can be decided based on the cost of per unit of energy. Like in India, electricity is cheaper. Biogas to electricity is not viable here. In contrast, RNG pipeline network is good and well developing. So, I suggest that it depends on geographic locations.

Scaling up an anaerobic reactor always comes with challenges to biology if it is assumed that other mechanical system is designed for scaling up. Playing with living microbiology is state of art.
