Palm Oil Refinery Wastewater Biogas Upgrading to CNG Project in Malaysia

We are proud to share one of our successful ‘Palm Oil Refinery Wastewater’ project references. This project is Malaysia’s first commercial-scale Compressed BioGas (“CBG”) Upgrading and Renewable CNG Filling Station, which began operation in early 2024.

This iconic project runs a 15,000 Nm3 daily capacity CBG system from a palm oil refinery wastewater treatment plant in East Malaysia. The complete includes Weather proof VSD controlled ex-proof biogas screw compressor KE110 (G)INV-16, Ex-proof biogas refrigerated dryers, Natural gas high-pressure booster, Natural gas cascade, Gas dispenser, and Gas odorizer.

After desulfurization, pressurization, and membrane upgrading, CBG is pressurized to 250 bar and transported by a CNG tube trailer to serve local gas stations with green RNG.

Since the project was commissioned, numerous CNG tanker trucks have successfully filled this station in East Malaysia. This marks not only the successful installation of the first biogas upgrading to bio-GNG filling station project in Malaysia for tanker truck filling but also marks the completion of another Adekom turnkey supply complete CBG plant equipment project in the global market.

This project realizes a path to local energy optimization and consumption, improved energy supply, alleviation in problems of local energy shortages and as well as environmental pressures in rural areas.

Established in 2003, Adekom Kompressoren is a specialized manufacturer that provides a range of screw compressors designed and developed for biogas upgrading to RNG with Membrane / PSA technology and biogas power generation in compliance with ATEX or NEC/NEMA/UL standards for electricals and PED or ASME for pressure vessels. The ADEKOM biogas screw compressor is fitted with technologically advanced and market-proven European rotary screw biogas gasend.

Every component, like the gas end, inlet filter, gas/oil separator, cooler, control system, and pipework, is mounted on a baseplate fully connected and wired inside a sheet metal canopy suitable for outdoor installation. The package is ready to be connected directly to the plant. Inspection doors are installed to allow easy access and conduct routine maintenance. The compressor package is suitable for full capacity 24/7 round-the-clock operation. Installation of the compressor is simple, with no foundation requirement and ready for start-up after gas and power cable connection.
