Biogas monitoring and operations challenges
Posted by Natalia Bourenane on 2 March 2026 at 11:07 amWhat is the biggest challenge in biogas monitoring? What are the barriers to clarity in your biogas project planning? Biggest challenges in biogas operations?

@anessa.inc Does your software cover these challenges?
Thank you for the question Natalia. Yes. Biogas monitoring and operational challenges are some of the challenges that Anessa was built to address
Anessa’s integrated suite covers the full operational lifecycle. Anessa AD•M acts as a real-time monitoring and control layer, bringing together sensor data, manual inputs and historical performance to give operators a clear view of plant health, safety and efficiency. Anessa AD•O builds on that data to optimize feedstock planning and operational strategies, helping teams manage variability, prevent instability and reduce downtime.
@anessa.inc Madiha, thank you very much for your reply. Can you also specify if you work with projects in North America only or in other territories as well?
You’re very welcome, Natalia. Yes, we’re currently deployed across North America and Europe, with active projects in more than 14 countries worldwide.
Thanx for sharing @anessa.inc . this is impressive!
Hi Natalia,
Biogas operation is always a challenge to one who don’t know critical parameters of operation. If we take very important parameters of operation, then it incorporates VFA, TA, TAN, VFA Profile, Biogas composition.
Out of above parameters, only biogas composition can be online monitored and others need to take samples and measure in lab.
Now, question comes where and when to take samples? So, it is good challenge and learning to monitor critical parameters and decide further operation philosophy.
Thank you for your comment @Tejas and very valid points on biogas monitoring. Now, what do you think about new approaches that use AI?
