  • Investor exploring opportunities in renewable energy?

Then this course is for you.

Calling all biogas professionals and AD enthusiasts…

Do you want to truly understand:

  • How biogas is produced from organic waste and biomass?
  • What to do when you face day-to-day operational challenges?
  • Which cutting-edge technologies are shaping the future of biogas?
  • Whether building a biogas plant makes sense for your situation?
  • What type of plant fits best with your available substrates?
  • What successful biogas operators do every single day?

Even if you’re completely new to the world of biogas you’re welcome here.

Here’s what to expect…

Join us for a hands-on training experience and deep insights into the biogas industry with the proBIOGAS International Engineering and Operating Course 2026. This intensive two-week course, divided into two distinct thematic weeks, offers you valuable knowledge and practical skills essential for the planning, operation, and optimization of biogas plants.

Week 1: Planning and Engineering

The focus of the first week is on the planning, design, and technical layout of biogas plants. Participants will gain a comprehensive overview of the biogas industry from national to international developments, the various plant technologies, and the key criteria for selecting and planning a biogas facility. Practical topics such as the selection of pretreatment processes, biogas-specific building materials, calculations for plant sizing, and digestate management will be covered in detail. A highlight of the week is the practical insights into international project planning and plant visits.

Week 2: Operating and Process Optimization

The second week focuses on the practical aspects of plant operation and continuous process optimization. Participants will learn how to analyze operational disruptions, maximize plant efficiency, and optimize the quality and quantity of biogas production. Key topics include process control, substrate handling, measurement and control technology, and safety features of biogas plants. A special highlight is the hands-on use of measurement devices and on-site testing at a research plant.

Booking Information

Both weeks of the course can be booked separately, so you can attend either Week 1 Planning and Engineering or Week 2 Operating and Process Optimization individually. Each module offers valuable, hands-on content that will support you effectively in your work with biogas plants.
