VENICE 2026 – 11 th International Symposium on Energy from Biomass and Waste – will take
place from 23 to 25 November 2026 in Venice, Italy, at the prestigious Hotel Monaco & Grand
Canal, a few steps from Piazza San Marco.
The Symposium is organised by IWWG–International Waste Working Group with the scientific
involvement of the Universities of Hamburg (DE), Kyoto (JP), Padova (IT), Queensland (AU),
Rostock (DE), Tongji (CN), Zhejiang (CN) and Sultan Qaboos University (OM).
The event represents one of the leading scientific conferences in the field, and the first to extend
the concept of Waste to Energy to include any form of alternative energy originated from waste and
biomass.
The program will include parallel tracks of oral sessions, workshops, poster presentations, social
events and much more.
The conference topics broadly cover all aspects of energy recovery from biomass and waste,
including: feedstocks / conversion processes / energy outputs / policies, strategies, regulations /
global climate change / economic aspects / decision tools / communication: waste to energy and

The Call for Abstracts is officially open until 20 March 2026.
Authors interested in presenting their work in oral or poster presentations can submit their
