Our client, a leader in sustainable waste management and resource recovery, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to take the helm of their Construction & Demolition (C&D) landfill and Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Atlanta. The Opportunity

As Operations Manager, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of the landfill and MRF, ensuring everything runs smoothly, safely, and in full compliance with all regulations. You’ll lead a passionate team, manage site development projects, and drive initiatives that support operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Operations & Regulatory Management (50%)

• Lead daily landfill and MRF operations, including waste acceptance, sorting, compaction, and shipment processes.
• Manage site airspace, cover operations, and water/leachate systems.
• Control budgets, oversee equipment maintenance, and ensure efficient procurement of supplies.
• Ensure strict compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
• Maintain accurate records, coordinate with regulatory bodies, and promptly resolve compliance issues.
• Deliver site development projects that align with engineering designs and regulatory permits.

Team Leadership & Partnerships (30%)

• Hire, train, and mentor a dedicated team of operators, supervisors, and admin staff.
• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and high performance.
• Collaborate with sales teams to manage inbound material mix, tipping fees, and customer relationships.

Landfill Development & Expansion (20%)

• Oversee construction of new landfill cells, ensuring alignment with engineering and regulatory standards.
• Manage timelines, budgets, and quality control for all expansion projects.

Job Qualifications

Your Background

• 5+ years’ management experience in aggregates, recycling, or waste operations.
• 3+ years’ experience in production supervision or foreman roles.
• Strong understanding of environmental and safety compliance.
• Ability (or willingness) to obtain Manager of Landfill Operations certification.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent operational leadership experience.
