Job Description
You’ll start by owning core business functions like invoicing, payables, receivables, and business analytics, and client data management. But your first major project will be researching and setting up Azura’s first Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The ESOP is a key milestone in Azura’s journey to build a company where every team member can have a real stake in our success. Yes, you can grow into a Partner level position with this role!
As you learn our business, you’ll research, investigate, recommend, develop, implement, and maintain solutions that drive success. This is your chance to be on the road to COO, Head of Finance, or another specialized executive role, depending on what you fall in love with. We’ll support you the whole way. As you grow into the position, you’ll be mentored by seasoned professionals (20-40 years of experience!) across Finance, IT, Legal, HR, Marketing, Business Development, Sales, or Operations.
Office and Benefits:
- We are a mostly in-person office, working a nominal 40 hours per week in Waterloo, ON.
- Flexible hours and WFH options are earned as we build trust and find a good working rhythm.
- Starting salary $51,000 plus up to $7,500 bonus based on firm and personal performance. There is opportunity for substantial salary growth as the company grows.
- Future opportunity for a Partner level position and profit sharing based on performance.
- Comprehensive Health and Wellness benefit package including dental, vision, physiotherapy, chiropractic, fitness benefit, and more. Benefits begin 30 days after employment.
- Paid time off and sick time.
- Opportunity to grow and develop the role based on your strengths and passions.
- Opportunity for professional development including access and support from highly experienced mentors.
- Participation in conferences and trade events.
Curious what life at Azura is really like? We’ve got you covered.
- Check out our YouTube channel to see vlogs and behind-the-scenes moments from the team.
- We share a running list of books, videos, and YouTube channels that have shaped the way we think, lead, and build at Azura. Some staples on our bookshelf: Extreme Ownership, Managing the Professional Service Firm, Traction, and Ideas to Profit. On the YouTube front, we’re big fans of Alex & Leila Hormozi for business thinking, and Practical Engineering for breaking down complex systems with clarity.
- As a team, we connect over sports & fitness, the outdoors, and nerdy things like anime, board games, sci-fi, and fiction. No pressure to share all the same interests. We love variety.
Responsibilities
- Own the money flows: create, manage, and refine systems for invoicing, payables, and receivables that keep our operations smooth and scalable.
- Make sure everyone is paid: work closely with our accounting partners to ensure timely, accurate financial operations and reporting.
- Unlock funding: identify, apply for, and manage grants and government programs that support our mission and growth.
- Turn data into decisions: conduct business analytics that reveal insights, solve problems, and drive performance.
- Lead special initiatives: present and manage internal projects that improve how we work and how we grow. Examples include:
- Set up global payment systems.
- Sifting through various software solutions and making an informed decision: Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), AI systems, etc.
- Create a system to process higher volume and lower cost projects.
- Cultivate trust: confidently handle communications with clients, vendors, and external partners via email, phone, and video meetings, strengthening relationships and trust.
- Be an educator: support creating marketing and educational materials that help environmental projects be effective.
- Improve the employee experience: support employee benefits administration and help build a workplace that takes care of its people.
Job Qualifications
Technical Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and business analytics tools.
- A collaborative team player with a growth mindset, eager to learn.
- 2-5 years of experience across several business functions (e.g., Finance, IT, Legal, HR, Marketing, Business Development, Sales, or Operations). You’ve worked on cross-functional projects, owned processes, and seen what good (and bad) systems look like.
- You’ve built things, fixed things, and made a few mistakes along the way. We’re looking for someone who’s ready to grow into leadership by helping us build our foundations right.
Must Have Details
- Applicants must be permanently eligible to work in Canada. Proof of eligibility may come in the form of a certified copy of a birth certificate, citizenship certificate, or certificate of permanent residence.

How to apply
1. Application
Please send your cover letter and resume to hiring2025@azuraassociates.com.
2. Application Review
We read every application — seriously. In a world of AI screeners and keyword filters, this is our way of keeping things human. We truly appreciate the time you take to research Azura and craft thoughtful cover letters. Every applicant gets a confirmation email (from a person), and we’ll send a clear yes or no once a decision is made.
3. Initial Chat
A quick 15 minute phone call with our CEO to get to know you beyond the resume. This is a chance to hear your voice, learn what excites you, and give you a feel for ours.
4. Legal Screen
A brief check to confirm your eligibility to work and other relevant logistics.
5. Work Style Assessment
We use PXT Select to understand your communication, decision-making, work style, and how it complements the team and culture we’re building.
6. Skills & Culture Fit Interview
A 60 to 90 minute virtual interview where we’ll hear your professional story, discuss your goals, and share Azura’s vision. It’s a two-way conversation to explore alignment and mutual fit.
7. Homework Assignment
You’ll complete a short, relevant task that gives you a chance to show how you think, solve problems, and approach the kind of work you’d do here. We want to be very clear: your work will not be used by Azura for any business purposes unless you are hired. This is strictly for us to understand your approach and give you a realistic preview of the role. We respect your time and ideas.
8. In-Person Presentation
You’ll present your homework to our team at our office. It’s a chance for you to meet the people you’d collaborate with, get a feel for the environment, and see how we give and receive feedback. This part is as much about you vetting us as the other way around.
Do your research on us, and if you are still excited to take your career to the next level by becoming a key player in our success, please apply by email! Thank you. hiring2025@azuraassociates.com
