Description

Two years on from the launch of Ireland’s National Biomethane Strategy, the direction of travel is now unmistakable. Biomethane is no longer a concept on paper, it is becoming a real and necessary part of Ireland’s energy system.

The ambition remains intact: up to 5.7 TWh of biomethane by 2030, meeting roughly 10% of national gas demand. What has changed is the level of momentum behind that target. The policy architecture is beginning to fall into place. The Renewable Heat Obligation (RHO) legislation is scheduled to be published in the coming weeks. Grid injection standards are continuing to evolve. And critically, projects are progressing, moving beyond feasibility and into delivery.

This progress is also reflected in the level of engagement at government level and we are delighted that the Minister for Climate, Environment and Energy, Darragh O'Brien will open the day for us as our keynote speaker.

There is still work to do. Scaling delivery, ensuring economic viability, and maintaining policy certainty will be key to unlocking the full opportunity.
But the shift is clear: biomethane has moved from ambition to execution.
That’s why we’re coming back to Dublin.

Join us for the second edition of Biomethane Day Ireland, organised by the Biomethane RNG Channel, the leading media platform fully dedicated to biomethane.
A full day dedicated to exploring the latest developments in Ireland’s biomethane roll-out, understanding how the Renewable Heat Obligation (RHO) and national incentive schemes are shaping investment decisions, and comparing Ireland’s progress with other European markets. The event will also offer a deep dive into real project case studies and innovative technology solutions, while creating the opportunity to meet developers, farmers, utilities, policymakers and investors all under one roof.

From strategy to steel-in-the-ground projects, from farm-based AD to grid injection, from decarbonisation targets to bankability - this second edition is about turning ambition into delivery.

If the first year was about vision, this one is about execution!
Be part of the conversation!
