The 18th Congreso Internacional De Bioenergía Releases Its Preliminary Programme

The 18th Congreso Internacional De Bioenergía Releases Its Preliminary Programme With Over 50 Real-World Case Studies and Innovative Technologies to Boost Biomethane and Other Renewable Gases
Valladolid, Spain, 15 July 2025
More than 50 case studies, cutting-edge technologies, and business models linked to biomethane and other renewable gases will take centre stage at the 18th International Bioenergy Congress, set to take place on 1–2 October 2025 at Feria de Valladolid. This year’s theme is “Biomethane and Other Renewable Gases: The Path Towards a Sustainable and Competitive Economy.”
Over two days, professionals from the energy, agri-food and technology sectors will share first-hand experiences, technologies, and strategies helping to strengthen biomethane’s role in the energy transition, industrial decarbonisation, and the efficient management of organic waste. The preliminary programme and registration are already available at https://www.congresobioenergia.org/en/programa-1/
Organised by the Spanish Biomass Association (AVEBIOM), with support from the Spanish Biogas Association (AEBIG), the congress has become the key technical and strategic forum for energy, agri-food, and technology professionals across the Iberian Peninsula.
The opening session will offer an updated overview of the European biomethane market, followed by 10 thematic blocks and 5 round tables over the two days.
Key topics for this year’s edition include synergies between biomethane and green hydrogen, advancements in upgrading technologies, the promotion of biomethane self-consumption in rural settings, and best practices for digestate management and valorisation—covering traceability platforms, biofertilisers, and new product developments.
The programme will also feature a block dedicated to international experiences, showcasing development models for biogas and biomethane in other European and Latin American countries.
For the first time, the congress will include a specific focus on green hydrogen, highlighting projects that combine gasification and dark fermentation with electrocatalysis technologies and production from organic waste streams.
AVEBIOM President Javier Díaz emphasises: “This year’s programme reflects the sector’s maturity. We’re moving beyond theoretical debates to share real, replicable solutions and business models, from large-scale plants to distributed initiatives rooted in local communities.”
AEBIG President Luis Puchades adds: “This congress reaffirms the sector’s commitment to sustainable biomethane development as a key driver of a decarbonised, efficient, and locally connected economy. At AEBIG, we continue to foster collaboration among businesses, the primary sector, public authorities, and citizens—turning ideas into real projects with tangible impact.”
