Boerger Bioselect Screw Press Separator

Maximizing Efficiency and Versatility: Boerger Bioselect Screw Press Separator

By Boerger

Biogas production depends on anaerobic digestion, a process where microorganisms break down organic materials to generate biogas. The remaining byproduct, digestate, is nutrient-rich and commonly separated into solid and liquid fractions using liquid/solid separators such as screw press separators.

This separation process transforms digestate waste into two valuable resources: the liquid fraction, often used as fertilizer or irrigation, and the solid fraction, suitable for applications such as cattle bedding. The Boerger Bioselect screw press separator is designed for energy efficiency, with two models to meet different needs: the Bioselect BS for manure thickening and the Bioselect RC for complete separation. Available in multiple sizes, these models cater to diverse customer requirements.

The RC150 is the largest screw press separator on the market, capable of handling up to 150 m3/h (660 gpm) and drying solids to a maximum solid content of 38%.

The Boerger Bioselect provides a turnkey solution, integrating the separator, pump(s), and control unit into a single, ready-to-connect system.

The control unit optimally synchronizes pump and separator operations, ensuring maximum capacity utilization.

The Innovative Bioselect for Solid/Liquid Separation from BÖRGER:

– Largest separator available, handling up to 600 gpm.

– Continuously adjustable dry matter content.

– Integrated separator, pump(s), control unit, and mobile or stationary skids.

– Patented profile auger with counter bearing to prevent auger screen contact.

– Designed for both agricultural (bedding) and biogas (digestate) applications.

Unlike conventional screw press separators, the Boerger Bioselect features a patented profile auger with a counter bearing. This design prevents contact between the auger and filter, reducing wear and ensuring extended service life.

A key innovation of Bioselect is its closed-loop system. The rotating Multi-Disc design ensures a leakproof process, keeping the slurry contained and unexposed to atmospheric air until discharge.

This non-vented, positive-pressure system prevents oxygen from entering the liquid during separation.

Bioselect maintenance is simple and efficient. The auger can be easily removed from the drive shaft via a maintenance opening, allowing on-site servicing without requiring extensive piping or drive system removal. This enables operators to quickly and efficiently complete maintenance tasks.

The Bioselect offers versatile installation options to suit various spatial and operational requirements. Whether mounted on a bracket, integrated with a movable frame and macerator, or configured for mobile use, the Bioselect seamlessly adapts to diverse applications.

Boerger’s commitment to customization extends to discharge height, pump selection, and control technology, ensuring optimal performance in any setting.

Additionally, multiple separators—including mobile versions—can be installed side by side to process high separation volumes efficiently.

Boerger’s dedication to innovation ensures that Bioselect remains at the cutting edge of solid-liquid separation technology. Its ease of maintenance and adaptable installation options make it the preferred choice for biogas plants seeking efficiency and reliability.
