AB Energy France Powers Local Energy Transition with Ferté-Gaucher Biogas-to-RNG Project
By AB Energy France
AB Energy France, the French branch of AB, is proud to be a key partner in the 77320 BIOGAZ project at La Ferté-Gaucher, a significant biogas-to-RNG (renewable natural gas) initiative.
Launched by a group of local farmers and livestock breeders in 2019, this project addresses both agricultural and environmental challenges while fostering the île-de-France region’s transition to clean energy.
The biogas plant will process 30,000 tonnes of organic waste annually, sourced from local farms. This includes livestock effluents, crop residues, and intermediate crops.
Methanization not only provides a sustainable outlet for agricultural waste but also helps reduce dependence on synthetic fertilizers, thanks to the production of digestate, a natural and odorless fertilizer.
The project supports local agriculture by offering farmers additional revenue streams, while simultaneously contributing to climate action through RNG production.
AB Energy France has supplied the advanced BIOCH4NGE® system for biogas upgrading. This system processes up to 798 Nm³/h of biogas, ensuring that the resulting recovery efficiency exceeds 99.3%, the highest achieved in the market using membrane technology. The unit incorporates state-of-the-art dehydration and H2S removal technologies, delivering RNG that meets stringent safety and quality requirements for injection into the national gas grid.
Once purified, the RNG will be injected into the GRTgaz transportation network (High pressure) at 445 Nm³/h, providing renewable energy to over 5,000 households. This project is a cornerstone in the region’s efforts to achieve energy independence while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The use of biomethane as a renewable fuel also supports the growing trend toward clean mobility, with RNG-powered vehicles reducing particulate emissions by up to 90%.
AB is dedicated to advancing the development of biogas and RNG projects, contributing to France’s ambitious renewable energy targets and enhancing the sustainability of local economies.
